As the nation's largest private sector employer, the restaurant and foodservice industry is the cornerstone of the American economy, of career-and-employment opportunities, and of local communities. We, at the NRA, are focused on enhancing this position by providing Nevada's industry with valuable tools and resources needed to educate our current and incoming employees.

NRA's national affiliate, the National Restaurant Association (NRA) and Educational Foundation (NRAEF) is the premier provider of educational resources, materials, and programs which address attracting, developing and retaining the industry's workforce.

The NRA is also a unique educational provider to the industry because any products purchased from us through the NRAEF helps fund outreach and scholarship activities on both a state and national level. This unique-selling proposition with state restaurant partners allows the NRAEF to consistently create best-in-class products and programs that meet the educational needs of our great industry.

Recently we've seen significant changes in our nation, our industry and within our organization. The NRAEF has embarked on a disciplined strategic planning process seizing the opportunity to undergo tremendous research and focus to determine the most critical educational challenges facing the restaurant and foodservice industry today. Resulting from these strategic efforts, the following three areas have been identified as being key educational needs for the industry: risk, recruitment, and retention.

Risk focuses on food safety through:

  • International Food Safety Council® - a national initiative designed to promote the awareness of food safety education.

    Member Library

    Members of the Nevada Restaurant Association have access to a vast library of educational and training products located at the association office.

    Books and tapes may be checked out from the office for two-week intervals. To ensure the security of our library materials, companies are required to leave a credit card number with the association at the time of check out.

    ServSafe® Food Safety

    The ServSafe program is the most recognized food safety training program and is accepted by more federal, state, and local jurisdictions. More than 2 million professionals have been certified through the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification Examination. The ServSafe examination also has been nationally recognized by the Conference for Food Protection (CFP). Text books and videos are available in English, Spanish and Chinese.
