The Nevada Restaurant Association Education Foundation is proud to make its series of high-quality workforce development programs available for FREE to a limited group of participants looking to start or grow their career in the hospitality industry. Courses are designed to support individuals at every stage of their career. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to advance into leadership, these programs offer valuable training and industry-recognized certification opportunities. Participants will gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to thrive in Nevada’s fast-paced hospitality industry. Nevada residents from all walks of life and skill levels, especially:
  • Low-income/unemployed individuals

What You'll Learn...​

Approved applicants selected for the program will have their current skills assessed and will be guided to take the appropriate courses listed below based on their experience. Courses are provided in a mix of online, in-person, and self study formats.

ServSafe® Food Safety Manager

Course Description

Offered by itself and as a required core class for the Restaurant Management Professional Credential
​

Updated to reflect the 2022 FDA Food Code

This comprehensive training covers essential food safety principles, including: 

Personal Hygiene | Cross-Contamination Prevention | Time and Temperature Control | Receiving and Storage Procedures | Food Safety Management Systems | Effective Cleaning and Sanitation Practices | and MORE!

Registration Options

Whether you learn best in a classroom environment, or prefer to self-study, we offer two convenient options to take this course!
In Person Class Details
Location: Nevada Restaurant Association Training Room
Timeframe: This is a 7 hour class with a 1-hour lunch break (total of 8 hours). Schedule will be shared with approved participants through their Workforce Development Coordinator.
Language: English (alternate language exams available upon request)
Special Accommodations: Must be requested and approved prior to class or exam
Exam Requirement: Nevada requires the Food Safety Manager exam to be proctored in person. Exam administered immediately following the class.
Online Course Details
Take the course at your convenience with our online course available 24/7 in both English and Spanish! 

Timeframe: This is an 8 hour commitment that must be completed within 90 days of starting the course. Registration link will be shared with approved participants through their Workforce Development Coordinator.
Language: English (alternate language exams available upon request)
Special Accommodations: Must be requested and approved prior to class or exam
Exam Requirement: Nevada requires the Food Safety Manager exam to be proctored in person. This is a 2 hour exam and must be scheduled through the Workforce Development Coordinator.
Self Study/Exam Proctoring Only
Prefer to study on your own then take the test? We have you covered! 

Timeframe: This is a self-study pace, but the proctored exam must be completed within 90 days of picking up course materials.
Language: English (alternate language exams available upon request)
Special Accommodations: Must be requested and approved prior to class or exam
Exam Requirement: Nevada requires the Food Safety Manager exam to be proctored in person. This is a 2 hour exam and must be scheduled through the Workforce Development Coordinator.
ServSafe® Alcohol – Responsible Beverage Service

Course Description

Offered by itself and as an elective course for the Restaurant Management Professional Credential

Available in English & Spanish
This course teaches the skills needed to prevent alcohol‑related incidents in bars, restaurants, and hospitality venues. Topics include:

Nevada Alcohol Service Laws & Regulations | Checking Identification and Recognizing Fake IDs | Intervention Techniques for Refusing Service | Effects of Alcohol on the Body | and Responsible Beverage Service Policies

Nevada Required Proctored Exam Details
  • State‑specific alcohol service exam must be proctored in person
  • After completing the online training, print your certificate and email [email protected] to schedule your state exam
  • Upon passing, you will receive your Nevada alcohol card (additional fee applies)
Restaurant Management Professional (RMP) Credential

Course Description

Elevate your industry expertise by earning certifications in key areas of restaurant management.

Core Curriculum Topics: ServSafe Food Manager | Controlling Foodservice Costs | Hospitality and Restaurant Management | Hospitality Human Resource Management and Supervision

Elective Course (must choose 1): Bar and Beverage Management | Customer Service | Food and Beverage Management | Hospitality Accounting | Hospitality and Restaurant Marketing | Nutrition | Purchasing | and ServSafe Alcohol

Participants have 6 months from date of registration to complete the credential.

ServSuccess® Career Certifications

Program Description

A three‑level credential program designed to validate your skills, knowledge, and leadership in the restaurant industry.
Certified Restaurant Professional (CRP)

Program Description

For: Bartenders, Cashiers, Line Cooks, Hosts, Servers

Five Courses: Front-of-the-House Knowledge and Service Culture | Back-of-the-House and Restaurant Kitchen Knowledge | Product Quality and Cost Control | Branding and Marketing

Pre-Requisites: ServSafe Food Handler Certificate | Character Reference Form verifying competencies

Participants have 30 days from date of registration to complete the certification.
Certified Restaurant Supervisor (CRS)

Program Description

For: Assistant Managers, Kitchen Leads, Shift Leaders

​Five Courses: Company Policy Implementation | Meeting Customer Service and Quality Goals | Leadership | Workplace Safety | Cost Control

Pre-Requisites: CRP Certification plus 400 hours of industry experience in a supervisory role -OR- 800 hours of supervisory experience | ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certificate or equivalent | Character Reference Form

Certified Restaurant Manager (CRM)

Program Description

For: Food Service Managers, Kitchen Managers, General Managers

6 Courses: Financial Management and Performance | Purchasing and Cost Control | Finding, Hiring and Training Employees | Managing Employee Performance | Safety and Regulations | Marketing Planning and Evaluation

Pre-Requisites: CRS Certification plus 1,000 hours of management experience -OR- 2,000 hours management experience | ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certificate (or equivalent) | Character Reference Form
