In August, ProStart teachers gathered for a professional development session taught by Sarper Celenk. Mr. Celenk introduced them to Turkish Tastes, the umbrella brand of Turkish food and beverage products being introduced across the world. Turkish Tastes represents more than 40 product groups, 6 of which are being promoted in the United States. As part of their initiatives, Turkish Tastes is sponsoring culinary high schools to include utilization and applications of Turkish products in their curriculum and provide students an opportunity to work with them in the classroom. Teachers were given the Turkish Taste comprehensive reference book, which showcases Turkish agricultural industries, Turkish cuisine and culture and recipes. They also received a sample of olive oil and a lesson plan to be used in the classroom. Their team will be visiting ProStart schools early October.
