Monday:
The NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index for September will be released. The index in August unexpectedly fell by 6 points to 50, below market forecasts of  56. The consensus forecast predicts that the index will remain at 50 in September.


Tuesday:
The U.S. Census will release its August readings for building permits (preliminaries) and housing starts. July housing starts increased by 3.9 percent month-over-month (MoM) to 1.452 million, above market forecasts of  1.448 million. July building permits (preliminaries) inched up by 0.1 percent MoM to 1.443 million , which points to subdued housing demand amid higher interest rates.


Thursday:
The U.S. Department of Labor releases initial jobless claims for the week ending September 16. The claims for the week ending September 9 rose by 3 thousand to 220 thousand claims, which is lower than market expectations of  225 thousand. The Federal Reserve’s FOMC closely watches the labor market when deciding on the optimal Fed Funds rate. Consensus forecasts expect initial jobless claims to rise to 225 thousand.


Existing home sales for August will be released. Existing home sales for July dropped by 2.2 percent MoM to an annualized 4.07 million, which is the lowest in three months, and compared to forecasts of  4.16 million. The consensus forecast predicts that existing home sales for August will rise to an annualized 4.1 million.
